Universal City, Calif., March 18, 2022 — To celebrate the success of Illumination’s smash musical sensation, Sing 2, Illumination and Universal Pictures today announced the launch of The Sing 2 Sing-Along Experience in theaters nationwide.

Beginning March 25, audiences in the United States and Canada will be able to choose from multiple Sing 2 Sing-Along showings at participating theaters in all major markets and experience the thrill and joy of sharing unforgettable musical performances with fellow fans as, together, they sing their favorite songs along with the film’s beloved characters. Tickets are available on Fandango now.

Conceived and designed as a one-of-a-kind experience for fans, the Sing 2 Sing Along welcomes audiences to join together in creating the kind of magic that usually only happens when a crowd unites in a live concert, as their favorite band performs their favorite song. The Sing 2 Sing Along provides fans that feeling again and again and again throughout the film.

The Sing 2 Sing-Along Experience will include lyrics to more than 20 of the biggest hits featured in the film, including “Girl on Fire,” “There’s Nothing Holdin’ Me Back,” “Let’s Go Crazy,” “She Bangs,” and the beloved U2 classics, “Where The Streets Have No Name” and “I Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For.”

Illumination’s Sing 2 has been playing in theaters and delighting audiences everywhere since Dec. 22. The blockbuster franchise has now earned more than $1 billion worldwide.

Illumination’s Sing 2 celebrates the thrill of chasing your dreams, as the ever-optimistic Buster Moon and his all-star cast of performers prepare to launch their most dazzling stage extravaganza yet …all in the glittering entertainment capital of the world. There’s just one hitch: They first have to persuade the world’s most reclusive rock star—played by global music icon Bono, in his animated film debut—to join them.

With dozens of contemporary and classic hit songs, electrifying performances and breathtaking artistry, Sing 2 serves as an emotional reminder about the importance of dreaming big and the power of music to heal.

Sing 2 features all of the characters audiences fell in love with in the first film (voiced by Matthew McConaughey, Scarlett Johansson, Reese Witherspoon, Taron Egerton, Tori Kelly, Nick Kroll and Garth Jennings), plus additional characters played by music superstars Pharrell Williams and Halsey, actors Bobby Cannavale and Letitia Wright and comedians Eric André and Chelsea Peretti.

The film is written and directed by acclaimed returning filmmaker Garth Jennings and is produced by Illumination founder and CEO Chris Meledandri and by Janet Healy.

About Illumination

Illumination, founded by Academy Award® nominee Chris Meledandri in 2007, is one of the entertainment industry’s leading producers of event-animated films, including Despicable Me, the most successful animated franchise in cinematic history.  The company’s releases include two of the top 10 animated films of all time, and its iconic, beloved franchises—infused with memorable and distinct characters, global appeal and cultural relevance—have grossed more than $6.4 billion worldwide.

Illumination, which has an exclusive financing and distribution partnership with Universal Pictures, is the creator of the world of Despicable Me. The franchise includes Minions, the fourth-highest-grossing animated film of all time and the most profitable film in Universal’s history, as well as the Academy Award®- nominated Despicable Me 2 and Despicable Me 3, which made more than $1 billion at the global box office.

Illumination has launched two additional original franchises that have captivated audiences worldwide. The first Secret Life of Pets film achieved the best opening for an original movie, animated or otherwise, in U.S. history, and the studio followed that success in 2019 with The Secret Life of Pets 2. Illumination’s smash hit, Sing, has now became the studio’s latest global franchise with Sing 2 in December 2021. In addition, Illumination’s Dr. Seuss’s The Grinch continues to hold the record for the biggest opening weekend of any Christmas-themed movie in history. Illumination’s upcoming films include Minions: The Rise of Gru on July 1, 2022 and a new Super Mario Bros. film in December 2022.

CRITTER FIXERS: COUNTRY VETS

Dr. Terrence Ferguson is the co-owner of Critter Fixer Veterinary Hospital. Growing up in rural Talbotton, Georgia, Dr. Ferguson discovered his caring nature for animals at a young age, bringing strays in off the streets and actually nursing a dog back to health after it had been hit by a car.

With his family’s encouragement, he embarked on a career in veterinary medicine long before college, spending his summers volunteering at local veterinary clinics. Dr. Ferguson received his undergraduate degree from Fort Valley State University and later earned his DVM from Tuskegee College of Veterinary Medicine.

After graduating, he formed a partnership with his best friend since college, Dr. Vernard Hodges, and nearly 20 years later, Critter Fixer Veterinary Hospital is still going strong. Dr. Ferguson is married with two kids and three dogs, and he trains and mentors athletes in the community. His daughter, Nicole, is studying Animal Science at Fort Valley State University, and his son, Terrence Junior, is a freshman at the University of Alabama where he plays football and study Sports Medicine.

CRITTER FIXERS: COUNTRY VETS

Dr. Vernard Hodges is the co-owner of Critter Fixer Veterinary Hospital. Raised in Peach County, Georgia, Dr. Hodges grew up around lots of animals and developed a passion early on for understanding and helping them.

In the hopes of becoming the next Jacques Cousteau, Dr. Hodges pursued his undergraduate degree in fisheries biology from Fort Valley State University. But soon after graduating, Dr. Hodges realized his passion for animals expanded well beyond aquatic species, so he enrolled at the Tuskegee College of Veterinary Medicine and graduated in 1997 with his DVM.

From there, he partnered with his best friend and vet school classmate, Dr. Terrence “T” Ferguson, to open Critter Fixer Veterinary Hospital. Almost 20 years later, the hospital has expanded to two locations and treats over 20,000 animals every year.

Dr. Hodges has a 17-year-old son, V.J., and several animals, including four dogs, Alexis, Bane, Ghost and Koi; and a bearded dragon named Drake. He is very active in his community and mentors scores of area children through his nonprofit organization.

Special Guest - Author Laurie Zaleski, FUNNY FARM: My Unexpected Life with 600 Rescue Animals will join Jon & Talkin' Pets 3/5/22 at 5pm ET to discuss and give away her new book

“ This story of grit and resilience is 100 percent inspiring.”
Real Simple
“Heartwarming...Zaleski masterfully illustrates how one person can rise above difficult circumstances to do substantial good. Lovers of the furry and feathery will revel in this feel-good story.”
Publishers Weekly
FUNNY FARM
My Unexpected Life with 600 Rescue Animals
Laurie Zaleski
At The Funny Farm, one of the largest animal rescues in the Northeast, many different animals all live together and roam freely, and the odd and unlikely friendships that develop reveal lessons of kindness and cooperation.  Laurie Zaleski shares the inspiring story of how it all started in FUNNY FARM:  My Unexpected Life with 600 Rescue Animals (Feb. 22, St. Martin’s Press; $27.99)
At twenty-five, with just the clothes on her back and three small children in tow, Laurie’s mother Annie fled an abusive marriage, going from upper middle-class comfort to a one-bedroom shack in the woods. She scraped by with menial jobs, including cleaning cages at the local animal control, and soon began saving the homeless animals, bringing them to (and sometimes inside) the family’s home.
Zaleski recounts a hardscrabble childhood, but also a rollicking, offbeat, boisterous life, loaded with more fun and adventures than anyone she knew, including chasing a runaway stallion down a four-lane highway in a car, and taking a cow to school for show-and-tell. When the car broke down, Laurie’s mom even used a horse to run errands or go to her job, “parking” her in the parking lot, with a feedbag and a couple of apples.
Laurie swore as a child that she’d one day buy her mom a farm of her own, so she could retire and do nothing but save animals.  Years later, as a successful businesswoman, she did just that, buying a 15-acre farmstead deep in the New Jersey woods
Funny Farm facts:
·       Residents  include pigs, goats, horses, dogs, cats, chickens, an emu and a skunk.
·       Most animals roam free and interact with other species, resulting in many odd and unlikely friendships
·       Laurie’s Kindness Program offers anti-bullying and special needs programs in schools, where her friendly animals show how different species interact and can get along.
·       Over 100,000 visitors are welcomed each year, free of charge.
·       Voted one of the Top 10 places to visit in New Jersey and Best Charitable Organization
A rescue story on many levels, FUNNY FARM is a daughter’s story of promises kept, dreams fulfilled, and animals lost and found. And it's the story of the brave, incredible, and adorable animals who found a home at the Funny Farm, and who inspire thousands of visitors each year.
LAURIE ZALESKI is the founder of the Funny Farm, a charitable organization located in Mizpah, New Jersey. Since 2000, the farm has welcomed all kinds of rescue animals. Laurie is also the founder, president and CEO of Art-Z Graphics. She has been named a New Jersey Heartland Hero, is listed in the 2019 Who’s Who of Professional Women, and has received numerous awards and acknowledgements for her work to save animals and educate the public about animal abuse.

Ellie Laks-Weiner, author of My Gentle Barn, said “I found myself up till much later at night than was good for me, just to read one more chapter. I laughed, I cried, I related in a very deep way, and most of all, I fell in love with Laurie, her mom, and her whole family, both human and non. Funny Farm was moving, inspiring, honest, and refreshingly real. I loved every page!”

Ellen Stimson, author of Mud Season and Good Grief, called the book "the satisfying tumultuous story of one mama who understood that a messy life crowded with love and animals is plenty good enough.  Laurie Zaleski writes in vivid unsentimental language, equal parts passion and grit."
