In this final volume of the franchise in which all the characters are together, Peter Quill (Chris Pratt) the Lord, Gamora (Zoe Saldana) returns with no memory of love, Drax (Dave Bautista) all brawn no brain, Groot (voice of Vin Diesel) “I am Groot”, Nebula (Karen Gillan) sister, Mantis (Pom Klementieff) cute yet odd, Cosmo the Spacedog (Maria Bakalova) a new member to the guardians, Kraglin (Seann Gunn) and of course Rocket (voice of Bradley Cooper) large part of the story line. There is Stakar Ogord (Sylvester Stallone) who is working with Gamora and a new gang. Ayesha (Elizabeth Debicki) and Adam Warlock (Will Poulter) who play the villain as does The High Evolutionary (Chukwudi Iwuji) the evil scientist trying to create a new civilization to his liking.
So, the Guardians of the Galaxy are still trying to protect the universe from evil doers as Peter deals with his emotional feelings for Gamora. Yet when an evil force tries to attack Rocket, the Guardians absolutely drop everything to help their friend survive. In the meantime, as we follow this journey, we also flashback to how Rocket became the talking Raccoon and the pains and sorrow he went through to escape his demonic madman The High Evolutionary.
I loved the film even though in many moments of the story about Rocket the story turns dark, emotionally unforgiving and just plan horrific. As a madman takes poor innocent creatures and performs horrific experiments on them. There are several moments that take place locked in a dirty dark cage conversations between a young Rocket, a while rabbit, Walrus and otter that will just break your heart. Animals are tortured everyday like this for needless experiments and I am happy to see that the director and writers took the audience down this dark very realistic path. Maybe a movie franchise that makes billions of dollars will help change the mind of some people to make a difference for the true beautiful creatures of this plant Earth, the animals. Hosting my national talk show for 33 years and talking about, trying to make change and help the lives of animals both pets and wildlife I applaud this film for telling a much-needed message to what I hope will make a large number of dollars at the box-office. Because if the film is a success, it means many people see the message and hopefully will help in stopping this cruelty to our animal friends.
