Once again, John Wick (Keanu Reeves) is on the move to save himself from death from the desert sands, to New York City, Berlin and Paris, this man has to look over his shoulder every day and every night. Not only is Wick working to defeat The High Table, as they try to kill him, he is also fighting off his friend Caine (Donnie Yen) who is working for Marquis (Bill Skarsgard) a new player with a lot of power also out to take down Wick. Also, another new member known as ‘Nobody’ (Shamier Anderson) a Tracker that works with his side kick emotional support dog.
Wick tries to hide with the support of an old friend Shimazu (Hiroyuki Sanada) and his daughter Akira (Rina Sawayama) that run a grand hotel. Not to forget Wick still has the support of his old pal Winston (Ian McShane) and Bowery King (Laurence Fishburne) but due to circumstance Winston literally lost his hotel. There are players coming out of the woodwork as the money to kill Wick increases in the millions but he and his bullet proof suit is fighting back by all means with some help along the way by others. As he grieves still the death of his wife Helen, he fights to stay alive to clear his name with The High Table and kill Marquis who has waged a private war against him.
The film is an action lover’s dream. Great direction and writing this story are sure to entertain you from start to finish. The fight scenes and car wars are amazing as Wick seems to be unsinkable. The score is superb and the fights are many with a few that seemed a bit off in its timing. I hope this is not the last Wick film which is what some are saying in Hollywood but hopefully they decide to resurrect the franchise and keep it going in the years to come.
Reeves is obviously brilliant as is Yen who is also amazing, both are able to fight like hell against a group of haters and still keep going. I like the addition of Anderson and especially his dog who by the way kicked ass and a bite of nuts from time to time. Skarsgard is the new bad guy and he plays it well always getting what he wants with little or no blood on his hands. Lance Reddick and Fishburne do not have huge roles but they are good in what they do. Sanada and Sawayama are both phenomenal as the fight to help Wick and survive a hotel full of bad guys including Caine. I gladly recommend this film which moves swiftly and does a great job of adding in new players. Thankfully the dog survives which was doubtful at many times. There is also a Pitbull and Irish Wolfhound in the story with no harm to either of them.
